Just went to host some HK ppl who visited ZPS with Mr.Phang (ex-form teacher), yesterday at IMM...
There was a HOngkong teacher with two other students following us...I met them in the BP library and then met Mr Phang...We then went to baliThai at IMM...
So..we had thai yu sheng, crab meat soup and many more. There were two particular dishes, fried fish and stir fried veg with red dates.
Things became funny....
For the fried fish dish, the Hong Kong teacher pronounced it as "fly fish" and for red dates, she pronounced it as "red daze".... so i was secretly laughing...luckily i managed to control it...
Oh yes...and for the yu sheng, a raw fish salad, Mr phang actually wanted the waitress to explain the meaning of yu sheng. But she said she wasn't professional and Mr phang told her, "Never mind, just explain it in you layman's terms." and I saw her eyes widened and smiled embarrassly, most probally because the word "layman's" is too chim for her.... :) Well, perhaps she's chinese educated...anyway, she presented the meaning of the yu sheng well in chinese...
lime juice : 大吉大利
fish:年年有余
plum sauce:鸿运当头
oil:事事顺利
crackers: 金玉满堂
that's all i remembered...
anyway, we had a great meal chattin' abt wad Hong kongers normally eat in their meals and stuff like that...It's quite enjoyable experience...
aft that we went to mr phang's house and went back to ZPS...
so all in all, i thought that it was a very fun and interesting trip to accompany the Hong Kongers...I think its great that at least they know how to speak maybe..3 languages? (im not sure if they could speak chinese).
So anyway, i'll not b blogging for a while cuz tests r comin'!!!!!!!
bb lol
