Hi everyone!
Today my class went to do some CIP activity to celebrate our school's Founder's Day.
For our class, we went to the Adventist Home for the Aged, which caters to both able and disabled old people who have/ do not have loved ones...
It was a pretty nice experience for me as we get to interact with the aged and most importantly, make their day. We did some singing, games, performances to entertain all of the "residents" there and also distributed some small gifts to them. There was a language barrier between us and the elderly there as it seems that none of us speaks dialect...or maybe more of wouldn't dare to speak dialects to the elderly.
Some of us help to clean the place up after that- I helped to clean the windows while some others helped to clear the rubbish bins in the homes. I was surprised that the home didn't need much cleaning. Perhaps there are many other volunteers from different organizations to help out.
Besides helping to clean the home, we kept the elderly company by playing intellectual games such as chinese chess, checkers, Dum(?) and Carrom (?). (Isn't sure of the spelling) and had a whale of a time ourselves...
We ended 1 hour earlier than expected and went to a nearby food court to have some food while we waited for the bus for an hour...
It's too bad that we couldn't accompany the residents of the home for lunch. But anyway, it was a fun experience after all. What a good way to celebrate Founder's Day!
:)
